Halloween and Your Insurance

How does Halloween relate to insurance you ask? Let’s take a look at some SPOOKY examples!

It was a dark and stormy night and all through the neighborhood the ghouls and goblins were tricking and treating.  A lone werewolf approaches your door. "Wooo! Trick or treat!" says the wolf.  "Oh, look at you. How cute!" you reply as you drop the candy into his bag. The werewolf replies, "Thank you!" and turns to run back to his dad. As he's running through your decorated front yard, he trips over a grave stone and his foot is caught between a skeleton's bones. Now the real horror.... does your Homeowners insurance cover a child's broken leg?

"Ding dong! Ding dong!" "Trick or Treat!" You walk to the front door excited to try something new this year for your trick or treaters. "Hi everyone! You look so scary. Great Batman costume!" you say as you hand each child an apple or an orange. "What is this?" asks Batman. "It's a healthy snack for you kids! Too much candy can rot your teeth, you know?" you reply. As the kids run back to their parents, you can’t help but think what a difference you've made to those kids tonight. Giving them a healthy alternative to sugar filled candy. Fast forward to 2 in the morning and you awake in a fright to the sound of your car alarm. Grabbing your shoes and running outside, you find your passenger side mirror and window smashed to pieces. As the sinking reality sets in, the thought crosses your mind: "Does my car insurance cover this?"

Sorting through candy after a long evening of trick or treating with your kids, you hand them each a piece to start with. About 10 minutes later you notice your son breathing hard and turning red.  "Are you ok?" you ask. He nods and takes a drink of water. Five minutes pass and he starts complaining that his arms are itchy. It's getting worse. Looking through the candy wrappers he ate you realize he got a butterscotch piece. He's allergic to butterscotch! Racing to the ER, you can’t help but hope that you paid your health insurance.
